New Poem: Tree Of Covenant

How tender is Your fruit upon my lips
Your ancient wine poured out for me
How truth resides in Your ripped wineskin
Revealed in Love’s broken bread

In dark places You willingly take us
Seeing Your wine-drenched flesh
Blood escaping broken manna
Your tree consuming us in Love

Engulfed, swallowed up in Life
Our stems of knowledge fall short
Our goodness failing to reach
Your arms strongest, highest boughs

Your life-blood drinking in our death
The arms of Your torturous instrument
Forever reaching outwards conducting sin
Converting burs to buds, thorns to shoots

Flowering with fruits of life
Dropped by Grace into a world
Needing newness of hope
A redemptive touch on craving souls

Almond buds blooming in Your presence
Upon the death of Your Perfect Priesthood
A consuming fire judging the temple
A wrath falling upon the greatest Mediator

Standing to provide for creation’s survival
Of wind, water, earth and spirit revival
Seed, flower, fruit and healing leaves
Fall from tree to the hill of Calvary

Your ancient roots, governed by time
Break through decomposing souls
Your fruits of flame consuming the weary
Preserving their life in Your sweetness

The nut and seed birth new beginning
Earth is touched by Graces flower
Leaves of healing deliver dust from curse
No leaven is found in what the bread makes whole from the ground

Tree of Covenant, we eat from you
