Illusions

Powers (powers), spirits (sprits) and principalities
Govern, control and hold authorities
We think that, we have this, pow'r over our life
Convinced by, our idols, that we aren't even blind

Our life is not the way it seems
Our life is full of illusions
We lack the rights we think we own
Our power is full of illusions...

Deception, delusion and vain philosophies
Lift us, exalt us, into god-like vanities
The fallen, are falling headlong to the sky
The system, the structure, veiling man-made Babylonic pride

Our life is not the way it seems
Our life is full of illusions
We lack the rights we think we own
Our power is full of illusions...

Money, money, money makes the world go round! (World go round!)
Power, power, power keeps the world on world on top! (World world on top!)
Beauty, beauty, beauty makes this lie feel good! (Lie feel good!)
The hyp-o-crit-ic world as they killed God on tortured beams of wood!

His life was not the way it seemed
His life brings down our illusions
He gave up rights we know he owned
His power exposed our illusions...

His death was not the way it seemed
His death destroyed our illusions
He gave up rights we know he owned
His death exposed our illusions...

Our life is not the way it seems
Our life is full of illusions
We lack the rights we think we own
Our power is full of illusions...

ETHER OF DELIGHT

You come like a rushing wind
And blow my sins away
You stir my soul within
And lead me to…

The Eye of the Storm
The solace of your arms
The depths of your heart
The mountain winds that

Grace me in love
The strength and the air of my Saviour
Your breath from Your throne above
Bestows on me eternal favour

Ether of Delight, You breathe on me
You breathe through me
Ether of Delight, You breathe in me
You breathe with me

You clear my space, You clean my air
You clear my sin, You calm my soul
You clear my mind, You clean my heart
You touch my lips with your flaming coal

You cleanse my sky with your ethereal breeze
I fall and am carried in Your winds of peace

CRY OF THE FORGOTTEN WITNESS

The innocent cried out, shaking injustice
Remembering Abel, shifting ministry
The earth is divided!

The rocks cried out, shaking nations
Renting temples, rocking foundations
The grave is opened!

The dead cried out, shaking people
Testifying resurrection, terrifying unbelief
The bones are breathing!

The ancients cried out, shaking naivety
Establishing reverence, bringing calamity
The blood is living!

The light cried out, shaking enemies
Consuming darkness, birthing phenomena
The sky is speaking!

The heavens cried out, shaking oracles
Revealing Incarnate, defaming gods
The light is ceasing!

"\/\/\/\/\/\/\,,

Did you hear? Did you see? Did you shake in fright?
The earth, grave, time, the astral and the light…
This was the testifier at the cross that cried

Did you witness this mourner play the role of partaker?
Genesis felt the sudden, brutal, death of its maker…
It was the day Creation cried for its Creator

BIBLE COMPARISON

I could have the pessimistic honesty of Maciah
Or the careful nature of Jehausophat
The cowardice and wisdom of Jonah
Or the bravery ad humility of Gideon

I could have the lamenting prophetic soul of Jeremiah
Or the sought after power of Elijah
But who am I in God?
What’s my character in God?

I could have the servant heart of Mary
Or the rebellious nature of Jonathan
The glorified walk of Enoch
Or the wisdom of Solomon

I could have the visions of Daniel and Ezekiel
Or have the beauty and power of Esther
But what’s my purpose in God?
What’s my nature in God?

I could seek the heart of God like David
Or have theoretical skills like professor Luke
The stupidity and strength of mighty Sampson
Or be an untamed wild-man John the Baptist

I could have the zeal like Apostle Paul
Or be given the promise of faith like Abraham
The authority and power of mighty Moses
But who does God say I am?

What did they have that made God use them?
For all were written for they were used by God
Through them God revealed His glory, purpose and will
But now I have something powerful called ‘the blood’

I am in God and ‘I Am’ is in me
He knows my plans and destiny
No one can tell me what I will be
Except I have His Life, Ghost and nature in me

… How those in ancient times desire what I have now in Christ…

EYES OF AN ATHEIST

Oh Lord I pray! I sincerely pray!
That I can discern what other Christian’s say
But not by going to others, or checking doctrinal lists
I pray you give me the eyes of an atheist

They see all the garbage performed in God’s name
They see suck-ups, status and thirst for money and fame
They see the church show is pointless and gave it the miss
I pray you give me the eyes of an atheist

They were right when they said that the church acts all funny
Using manipulation and charm to give up our money
They’re cluey and smart and know the entire gist
God give me the eyes of an atheist!

They told me what would happen if I kept seeing what I want
They were right; I was blinded by the speakers at the front
But my non-believing friends ‘prophecies’ were legit
So please give me the eyes of an atheist

I suppose I’m in a culture where you can’t be fully real
Or honestly express the way you truly feel
With words and meanings lost, you don’t know how to resist
God give me the eyes of an atheist

They see a reality in a way that I can’t describe
They know manipulation and how to transcribe
What the leadership teach with the words they twist
Please give me the eyes of an atheist!

They don’t fall for the game, the flattery or snare
In fact they’re guarded and see the church as a lair
It could be Pentecostal, Charismatic, Catholic or Baptist
But Lord give me the eyes of an atheist!

Dear Jesus I didn’t see you do this in your time and place;
Control your believers and deny them God’s grace
You enjoyed the diversity, went to parties and feasts
Dare I say you had the eyes of an atheist

You were so unpredictable and doubted the teachings
Of what the leaders and Pharisees often were preaching
Like non-believers You’re invited once and (dare I say) You desist
Did you really have the eyes of an atheist?

I suppose I’ve settled for a Jesus that serves me
And I’m immersed in a culture where everyone deserves me
But I’m over the façade please hear my hearts request
Please give me the eyes of an atheist!

I’ve often sung ‘I was lost, but now I see’
But I’ve found church culture makes me blind as can be
I need to break from the leaders whose lies I often hiss
And learn to discover my eyes of an atheist!

For I’ve seen now that I’ve come into the light
What we’re told to believe is not often right
I must believe what is true, doubt the lies that exist
Thank you God! I’ve always had the eyes of an atheist!

The church door’s forever now my common friend
I pass through it freely every now and again
I’m free now to rely on others, I’m free now to subsist
I’m free in Christ because I always had the eyes of an atheist!
