LET THE DEVIL PREACH (SATIRE!)

Why focus on Christ, God crucified?
Did God say we must take from that tree?
There’s more to know than a God who died
Know thyself and set yourself free!

Cast off your mind, cast forth your vision
In submission, bow to your masters
Bow to the prophesiers of worldly kingdoms
To the ‘faith’ and ‘vision’ casters

Follow your dreams, desires and likes
Know nothing is out of reach
Lose your soul now to your best life
Let the devil preach

Why hold to the Word that claims to be Truth?
Did God say this is truly the Way?
Let yours views define what should be absolute
Love thyself and let live the laws you say

Receive their words, receive their ‘faith’
Prophesy in faith what they’ve said
Speak as God to your winds and your waves
Turn these stones into bread

Be tossed by the waves and the winds
By all the things men teach
Be captivated by the doctrines of men
Let the devil preach

Why believe a life that looks so downtrodden?
Did God say to live in His rest?
Live in fame, money, power, not forgotten
Help thyself, and get what you think’s best!

Step off the temple, step out of the boat
Move in faith before God can
Force God to bless you so you may boast
How God submits to your hands

Follow your heart and close your mind
Be persuaded by clever speech
Drink in delusion, stagger with the blind
Let the devil preach!
